His Post
In our opinion, "His diet were more stable than his love life" was high praise! And we were glad to report Jo were able to maintain his 100% guaranteed track record.
We absolutely love this gem of a wedding venue in the heart of Sydney CBD. Not only does it ooze heritage charm, but it's all authentic! The QVB was built in 1898, and the space that is now the Tea Room was formerly the Grand Ballroom. Nothing about it was fake or manufactured.
On their welcome sign, we featured the Ruins of Talisay (where he proposed) and the QVB (where they are getting married), the beginning and conclusion of their wedding journey.
On a personal note, we also went here on our 3rd date together all those years ago!
We embraced the period aesthetics, as well as colours that complimented the space. Here's more on the design and styling work that we did for the space:
We were particularly proud of these paper aeroplane seating chart. Showing flights between the Phillipines and Australia, it brought guest on board the narrative of Pauleen and Ulysis' story.
And yes, those were legitimate paper aeroplanes, as you can see here, guests had their fun with them!
The QVB Tea Room is sizeable enough for the couple's guest size to have both their wedding ceremony and their wedding reception there, with a short period in between to reset the space. Prior to guests entering, we liked giving our brides and grooms a moment to savour their wedding space privately -it would be their only opportunity to do so. Pauleen and Ulysis' reactions were beautifully captured here:
The Four Flights
In this particular wedding venue, you do have the option to choose round or long tables. We took the opportunity to further our storytelling by seating their wedding guests on four long tables, each numbered after the four flights our couple took to be with each other.
On the table number signage, we drew an illustration of what happened in that period of their lives: from the first meeting, planning their future together, the proposal, and as seen here: Flight SJ39, the fourth and final flight, was the one Pauleen took to come to Australia to join the love of her life.

I will forever be grateful to Yosua and Carin for helping us have a successful wedding planning experience. They are a great team, very friendly, approachable and accomodating. For our venue, I personally wanted to make it simple and minimalist. I made a request, and First Sunday Events went above and beyond! It was not just any kind of styling, they personalized the designs to our love story, which made everything incredibly romantic and intimate!
Although organizing a wedding can be stressful, Yosua and Carin made everything appear easy. I'm so happy we visited the wedding expo and got to know them there! Again, forever thankful for you guys!

P.S. Hindi talaga kayo magsisisi kunin sila para sa kasal niyo! Magaling at higit sa lahat sobrang bait pa. :)

CARIN + YOSUA
On the day before our wedding, we hosted a Chinese-Indonesian Tea Ceremony. It's our way to honour and respect our extended family members, many of whom flew from overseas to celebrate with us. We also put our own twist to it, blending tradition with modernity.
This event was multi-cultural too: our own Chinese-Indonesian Tea Ceremony
