We are no stranger to Maddie and Nich, having curated their out-of-this-world engagement party in 2024.
At long last the awaited day is here, and it's time for these two to say their vows. Similarly to their previous celebration, the brief was to make their wedding day very much 'them'. Although where we went a little bit more adventurous with the engagement party, they wanted something that is simply timeless for their wedding day.
We reflected simply how FUN they are, along with their generous, loving, and kind nature by having countless guest care elements and unique engagement points. More on that below.
The Garden Wedding at Athol Lawn
This gorgeous space in Mosman is part of Sydney Harbour National Park, which means we are limited in what we can do as to not disrupt the natural environment. The greeneries surrounding it is raw and wild, which is great if you would like to embrace a rustic or Australiana aesthetic. However as our brief was to design a luxurious, timeless ceremony, we utilised a custom made backdrop, complete with an accompanying stage, aisle, and 2000+ stems of baby's-breath.
We set out ghost chairs in a theatrical arrangement for visual interest, whilst keeping the viewers' focal point on the backdrop. And the wedding guests? They did their part, turning up as per dress code in all black. When put together, this entire wedding ceremony was a VISION.
Which makes it hard to believe that it almost didn't happen! Sydney's weather wasn't cooperative in the week leading up to the wedding day, however we were able to correctly read the meteorological reports that said it will clear up by noon on Maddie and Nich's big day. The First Sunday team paid the price though; we had to set everything up under the downpour, but we're more than okay with that!

And music, of course, dictates how the day is felt. A speaker + Spotify playlist is fine, but a live DJ just brings everything to a whole other level.
There are things to watch out for when setting up outdoors: the availability of power, the noise regulation around the space, and the weather of course. But it can be done!

Hydration is key when you're throwing an outdoor wedding ceremony. And although the merit of that is debatable when the beverage is alcoholic, you'll best believe that it contributes to the vibe everyone would feel on the day.
Family members came through with libations before the bride walks down the aisle, and soon after the formalities we had the TVC crew roll out other beverages. A bar was also set with his-and-her cocktails; a great way to give your guests something else to taste besides the basics, whilst keeping costs sensible by just having two cocktail options.
Variety in your guest engagement elements is key to make an event interesting. From something consumable, something personalised, to something that guests have never seen before (permanent jewellery??) this wedding has it all.

Athol Hall in Mosman is an amazing wedding venue in Mosman that oozes heritage charm. The high ceiling calls for something to draw the focal point up. Although the timber floor and wall panelling limits what you can/can't do in terms of wedding styling, everything is cohesive and the palette is neutral -so you are not without options.
For Maddie and Nich we brought the same visual themes from their garden soiree indoors. A touch of modernity and a healthy heaping of timeless luxury.
With so many incredible guest-engagement elements already, we can't let the fun stop and keep the party going with more thoughtful and entertaining pieces inside. We firmly believe designing an unforgettable wedding reception is not only about how it looks, but how it feels too -and thus everything works hand in hand: the program (wedding planning), the visual experience (wedding styling) and how the day unfolds (wedding coordination).
Imagine going to a wedding reception, and watching a giant mille feuille cake being made on the spot 😱 That was exactly what this couple's guests were treated to.
Having developed a friendship with the couple, we were also invited to the reception as wedding guests, and so we got a taste of this incredible creation by chef Adriana Rodrigues -and it was DIVINE.
And with the amazing DJ TellyP on board, we blew the roof with good vibes. Watch below:
